The Haunting 2023 is the CoD’s yearly Halloween-themed event. It will launch on October 17th this year and will come with a major mid-season update for Season 6. Read more to find out what exactly will be included in the event.

What Activities Will The Haunting Come With?
As we’ve mentioned in our Season 6 article, the Haunting event will bring several new and reimagined old game modes as well as new operators:
- Soul Capture: remember the Treasure Hunt event from Season 3? Well, it’s just like that, but when you kill enemies during the event, they will drop Souls – a currency that you’ll be able to spend on the event-exclusive items.
- Themed operators:
- Spawn (Image Universe)
- Inarius and Lilith (Diablo)
- Skeletor (Overlord of Evil)
- Ash Williams (Evil Dead 2)
- Alucard (Hellsing)
- Al Mazrah night version – Operation Nightmare: what seems to be a coop mission with Halloween-themed missions and enemies
- Zombie-royale mode – a BR experience where you will be able to respawn as a zombie with a new set of abilities to hunt down remaining players
- Vondead – is a night-time version of Vondel where you’ll be fighting against zombies
- The Haunting Warzone 2 Lockdown – a returning game mode from Season 4 where players will be using pre-made loadouts and trying to capture and defend rotating points.

The Event-Exclusive Equipment and Map Reskins
There will be new equipment that players will be able to use depending on the map and the game mode you’re playing:
Within Al Mazrah and Vondead, zombies sometimes leave behind enigmatic loot boxes scattered across the maps. These boxes, when accessed, offer plates, ammunition, and equipment, acting as a combined source of armor and ammo supplies.
Shaped reminiscent of a vampire bat, the Bloodseeker Grenade adheres to adversaries, highlighting them in thermal vision, beneficial for operations in the dark.
Containers available for looting in Al Mazrah and Vondead have reintroduced the notorious jump scares, delivering an unexpected shock to players as they hunt for items.
In the mid-season update, Modern Warfare 2 will do Halloween-themed makeovers for two multiplayer maps: El Asilo, which honors “Día de Muertos,” and Embassy, which is under a zombie siege.
Modified Classic Multiplayer Modes
With map modifications, the Modern Warfare 2 The Haunting update will introduce Halloween-themed variations to several traditional modes:
- Haunting Domination: In this version of Domination, expect Scarecrows to act as flag markers.
- Haunting Kill Confirmed and Grind: Collect skulls as replacements for Dog Tags in both Grind and Kill Confirmed modes.
- Haunting Drop Zone Drop Scares: While securing the drop zone to earn points for your squad, be wary of potential jump scares in the crates.
- Haunting Infected: Zombies congregate near the Infected, and players who become infected will turn into Zombies.
