Achievements

Kor’kron Annihilator or Golden King

The Reins of the Kor’kron Annihilator and Reins of the Golden King are two prestigious mounts for purchase. These mounts become accessible once your guild achieves Level 25 and you reach Exalted reputation with your guild, each costing 1,500 gold.

You’ll need to endure a significant grind to acquire one of these impressive ground mounts. Your guild must reach its maximum level of 25, and you must achieve Exalted status with your guild before you can make the purchase.

While many players may find guild leveling straightforward due to the high number of active players and frequent completion of quests and boss kills, remember that the experience required for each guild level increases as you progress. It’s likely to take about 137 days, or 4.5 months, to hit your guild’s daily experience cap to reach Level 25. So, prepare for a long haul and keep grinding!

Volcanic Stone Drake

Taught Reins of the Volcanic Stone Drake, a coveted flying mount, is awarded upon earning the achievement Glory of the Cataclysm Hero. To secure this mount, you must complete every Heroic dungeon at least once to obtain Cataclysm Dungeon Hero, along with several challenging achievements within those dungeons. Achieving this milestone is a mark of true dedication and skill.

Drake of the East Wind

Taught by Reins of the Drake of the East Wind, another impressive flying mount, are granted for completing the Glory of the Cataclysm Raider achievement. This achievement involves clearing Blackwing Descent, Throne of the Four Winds, and The Bastion of Twilight, and requires completing various achievements within these raids, including defeating each boss on Heroic difficulty. It’s a tough challenge, but earning this mount is a significant accomplishment.

Dark Phoenix

Taught by Reins of the Dark Phoenix, a stunning flying mount can be purchased for 3,000 gold after earning the Guild Glory of the Cataclysm Raider achievement. To achieve this, your guild must complete Blackwing Descent, Throne of the Four Winds, and The Bastion of Twilight with a group of at least 8/10 or 20/25 guild members. You can check if your group qualifies by looking for your guild tabard near the minimap. Once you’ve met the requirements, you can buy the mount from your faction’s guild vendor.

While obtaining this mount is notably simpler than the Drake of the East Wind and doesn’t require specific achievements or Heroic boss modes, it can still be challenging for those without a guild. So, get involved with a guild to secure this impressive mount!

Archaeology

Fossilized Raptor

The Fossilized Raptor mount is a rare and striking skeletal raptor that skilled archaeologists can earn. You must stumble upon and complete the Fossilized Raptor rare archaeology project to obtain it. This involves discovering fragments of Fossilized Raptor at fossil dig sites and collecting 100 Fossil Archaeology Fragments. Once you gather the required fragments and complete the project, you will create the Fossilized Raptor mount.

Ultramarine Qiraji Battle Tank

The Ultramarine Qiraji Battle Tank is a stunning ground mount resembling the Blue Qiraji Battle Tank, available to proficient archaeologists. You must discover and complete the Scepter of Azj’Aqir rare Tol’vir archaeology project to obtain this mount. At Tol’vir dig sites, you have a chance to find fragments and will need to collect 150 Tol’vir Archaeology Fragments to finish the project. Additionally, you can use 3 Tol’vir Hieroglyphics, equivalent to 36 Tol’vir Archaeology Fragments, to aid in completing the artifact. Once assembled, you will have the Ultramarine Qiraji Battle Tank.

Rare Mounts

Drake of the South Wind

Acquired via Reins of the Drake of the South Wind, this mount is a rare drop from Al’Akir in the Throne of the Four Winds raid. As one of the more elusive flying mounts, it has a drop rate of only 1-2%, making it a challenging but rewarding find. Kael’thas might have had a more glamorous ride, but this drake is a prestigious prize!

Drake of the North Wind

Obtained through Reins of the Drake of the North Wind, this mount drops from Altairus in The Vortex Pinnacle dungeon. It’s a bit more accessible than its South Wind counterpart, dropping from both Normal and Heroic modes but still with a low drop rate.

Phosphorescent Stone Drake

Obtained through Reins of the Phosphorescent Stone Drake, this mount is a guaranteed drop from Aeonaxx, a rare spawn in Deepholm. Aeonaxx can be found near the Quartzite Basin and flies around the Temple of Earth. You must defeat Aeonaxx while managing his whelpling adds to secure this mount. For more details and tracking tips, visit Aeonaxx’s page on Wowhead.

Grey Riding Camel

Gained via Reins of the Grey Riding Camel, this ground mount drops from Dormus the Camel-Hoarder. You must find and interact with a Mysterious Camel Figurine in Uldum to get this mount. Some figurines will disintegrate, but finding the right one will transport you to a hidden zone where you’ll face Dormus. Defeating him will earn you this rare and distinguished camel mount.

Cataclysm Reputation Mounts

Brown Riding Camel

Acquired via Reins of the Brown Riding Camel, this ground mount is available from Blacksmith Abasi once you reach Exalted status with the Ramkahen faction. To gain a reputation with Ramkahen, complete quests in Uldum, wear the Tabard of Ramkahen during level 85 dungeons, and complete the single daily quest provided by the faction. Purchasing this mount will also earn you the achievement of One Hump or Two?. Note that these mounts will only appear on the vendor after you achieve Exalted status.

Tan Riding Camel

Obtained through Reins of the Tan Riding Camel, this ground mount is available from Blacksmith Abasi once you reach Exalted status with the Ramkahen faction.

Spectral Wolf or Spectral Steed

Acquired through Reins of the Spectral Wolf or Reins of the Spectral Steed, these ground mounts are sleek, ghostly versions of existing PVP mounts. You can obtain them once you achieve Exalted status with either Hellscream’s Reach or Baradin’s Wardens PVP factions. After reaching Exalted, you can buy one of these mounts from your faction’s quartermaster—Pogg for the Horde or Quartermaster Brazie for the Alliance—using 165 of the new battleground currency earned by completing objectives or winning in Tol Barad.

Drake of the West Wind/Drake of the West Wind

Obtained via Reins of the Drake of the West Wind/Reins of the Drake of the West Wind, this flying mount is available to players who achieve Exalted with Hellscream’s Reach or Baradin’s Wardens. Once you reach Exalted status, you can purchase this mount from your faction’s quartermaster—Pogg for the Horde or Quartermaster Brazie for the Alliance—using 200 of the new battleground currency, which is awarded through objectives and victories in Tol Barad.

Goblin Trike/Goblin Turbo-Trike

Available through Goblin Trike Key and Goblin Turbo-Trike Key, these ground mounts are primarily for goblins but can be purchased by other Horde races once they achieve Exalted status with the Bilgewater Cartel. Horde players can accelerate their reputation gains by wearing the Bilgewater Cartel Tabard while completing specific dungeons. If complaints arise about factional fairness, I might need to reconsider this guide!

Miscellaneous Mounts

Sandstone Drake

Acquired through Vial of the Sands, this flying passenger mount requires a skilled Alchemist to craft the pattern. First, you need to be an archaeologist and luck out by finding a Tol’vir Archaeology Fragment of a Canopic Jar. After assembling the jar and finding the Recipe: Vial of the Sands within, you’ll need to master 525 Alchemy skills and gather expensive reagents. It’s a pricey endeavor, but Blizzard recently made Bind on Equip (BoE) easier to acquire.

Vashj’ir Seahorse

Obtained via Vashj’ir Seahorse upon completing The Abyssal Ride questline in Kelp’thar Forest, this aquatic mount is essential for navigating underwater in Vashj’ir. Unfortunately, it’s only usable within the Vashj’ir zone, so you can’t take it on land adventures.

Mottled Drake

Taught by Mottled Drake. Unlocked by redeeming a loot card code from the WoW Trading Card Game’s Worldbreaker expansion, this flying mount is a recolored drake. Though it requires real-world money, it’s likely a rare and visually appealing addition to your collection.
