His sudden elevation to the role of the final boss feels like a narrative shortcut, bypassing what was expected to be a more complex and rewarding storyline involving Iridikron. This has led to incompleteness as if a chapter in the saga has been skipped. Adding to this complexity, a permanent Augment Rune has been introduced into the Public Test Realm, obtainable at Level 18 Renown with the Dream Wardens for 100,000 gold. This new addition has been interpreted by many as a sign that the Dragonflight expansion is winding down, as it closely mirrors a similar item introduced in the final patch of the previous Shadowlands expansion.
