A New Map: Vondel
Vondel is an entirely new location that players can enjoy in Modern Warfare S4. The subsequent turmoil is part of a scheme initiated by a well-known and notorious masked figure whose agents are present within Al Mazrah and Vondel. Look over the dust to identify what seems to be the commander of these mysterious forces: Nikto, a previous FSB covert agent. Victor Zakhaev kidnapped and tortured him, eventually damaging his face. He continually covers his wounds with a mask.
The waterfront area of a Baroque European city, Vondel, experienced an entire evacuation due to an impending attack threat just as Operators entered the Al Mazrah Koschei Complex through a ferocious sandstorm at the conclusion of S3. Vondel is a place in which the ages of old-world history coexist with contemporary architectural advances.
You can find Vondel between Al Mazrah and Ashika Island. It accommodates up to eighteen operators in DMZ and seventy-two operators in Resurgence. Anticipate a combination of tightly crowded urban streets and waterways, larger structures to investigate thoroughly, a high degree of verticality, and ways to combat those who make full use of it, featuring parkour routes and an abundance of mysteries to uncover.
Vondel, created by Beenox, has 15 unique areas of interest, featuring a Saxon-era medieval castle, a deserted zoo, a city hall in the Greek Revival style, and a soccer stadium that is now being used for a thrilling paintball tournament final. Additionally, there are various locations to discover and utilize strategically, like modest cafés tucked away in alleyways and densely populated townhouses.
However, Vondel’s distinctive terrain and entrance points are concentrated on the surroundings of its complex canal system. Along with various roads and bridges, Operators can drive or dive through the water encircling Vondel’s islands and city streets and use boats and an entirely novel amphibious vehicle to navigate this congested urban environment.
After all of that, SpecGru gave us a customized tactical assessment pre-brief that describes Vondel’s many focus points. On June 8, expect the declassification and release.
Launch Modes
Limited Time Mode: Lockdown
Vondel is under Lockdown.
Lockdown will assign various Quads to capture and maintain control of zones throughout the map instead of competing to be the one remaining squad left. Lockdown is greatly influenced by the multiplayer mode Hardpoint. This mode will launch on June 28.
Lockdown enables Custom Loadouts from the beginning of the match, making it ideal for players who prefer objective-based modes and invest a lot of time in multiplayer and Battle Royale. This implies that a team may opt for the traditional Call of Duty League loadout of up to 3 Vaznev 9Ks or TAC-56s with a Sniper Rifle user on the side, or they could discover their new favorite loadout combination while attempting to perfect their rotations and defensive setups to destroy their opponents.
Resurgence
Many players might want to visit Vondel to engage in a somewhat familiar combat. If that is your case, Resurgence is your cup of tea!
2 new elements, Dynamic Resurgence Timers, and the Vengeance Icon, will be introduced to increase match quality and play speed while retaining the fundamental Resurgence rules and flow from Ashika Island. This mode will be available immediately after launch.
Dynamic Resurgence Timers
There will soon be a new Dynamic Timer function for Resurgence modes. The creators of CoD are adding a brand-new function called Dynamic Resurgence Timers as a component of a larger strategy with goals for all online modes. If one or more squadmates disconnect, this immediately modifies the timers for the squad.
If those squad players re-join, the Resurgence timers will return to their “standard” countdowns. Dynamic Resurgence times, however, should act as a leveler for teams that unexpectedly find themselves without an Operator.
Vengeance Icon
It may be time to reevaluate your tactical mettle when you’ve just been dropped during a Warzone match. Have you ever felt like getting even after one of your members was killed in a Resurgence match? This is your time to get back at that Operator. You can learn who and where they are by clicking the Vengeance Icon.
A new fundamental mechanic known as an icon that points in the general direction of the opponent who removed your squadmate will be present in every Resurgence battle during Season 4. This indicator, connected to your squadmate’s death, only indicates direction but not precise location.
The duration of the Vengeance Icon is tied to how long your squadmate was down. So if they were down for 15 seconds, the icon would only last for 15 seconds. If you kill this opponent, alongside the traditional elimination value, all squadmate Resurgence countdowns are also reduced by five seconds.
The Vengeance Icon supports team-based Resurgence game styles and is ideal for squad members who don’t use microphones. This intel is only as effective as your abilities, so while the icon can help locate the adversary, it is ultimately up to you to complete the mission.
No matter the terrain, Dynamic Resurgence Timers, and Vengeance Icons will be part of Resurgence playlists.
DMZ Updates
Welcome to Vondel!
As part of your continuous DMZ tasks, you may anticipate thoroughly exploring Vondel’s cobblestone streets, multiple rivers, market squares, waterfront townhouses, and other significant areas of interest from the Cruise Terminal to the Central Station. 6 teams of 3 Operators, or a total of 18 Operators, can be sent to Vondel at any point in time.
With the arrival of this new Exclusion Zone in S4, DMZ received a thrilling significant update that added the following new content:
Forward Operating Base: A Central Hub for DMZ
S4 will include a more unified hub for DMZ communications and Operator enhancements. This menu system, the Forward Operating Base (FOB), enables Operators to accomplish tasks to acquire a range of improvements to use throughout the DMZ. These enhancements are divided into four groups:
- Stash: The size of the Wallet and critical stashes grow.
- Weapons Locker: Updates and insured contraband weapons.
- Bounty Board: For Exfil, Bartering recipes, and Buy Station discounts.
- Communications Station: Providing accessibility for an Urgent Mission.
All Operator Upgrades at the Forward Operating Base are passive, do not require equipment, and promote rapid advancement in all DMZ-related areas.
Urgent Missions, Reputation with Factions, Wallet
You can access Urgent Missions at the FOB. These missions are a brand-new variety of Faction tasks. They are typically easier to accomplish, offer an excellent method to build Faction Reputation, and open additional Story Missions, allowing Faction Missions greater freedom.
You can gain access to insured slots and the out-of-game Wallet and broaden DMZ aspects like the Contraband Stash, Key Stash, and Wallet Capacity by completing Urgent Missions, which are especially displayed in the Forward Operating Base in addition to your objectives.
In DMZ, you can retain the collected Cash from all matches in your Wallet. After that, you can decide to return with a whole load of Cash, which might make it simpler to finish missions that call for a large amount of Cash to be completed, or you could just use it on a spending binge!
Phalanx Faction And DMZ Comms
More information on DMZ will be released soon, featuring more specifics on Urgent Missions, new and updated missions, the secretive Phalanx faction, and the Signal Intelligence Contract. All of this information will be declassified, along with other intel, in a unique Infinity Ward DMZ Community Update on June 9.
Nonetheless, until the beginning of S4, don’t anticipate the declassification of the new Boss, the new vehicle, or the Weapon Case Rewards. For now, below is some preliminary information on the new Dynamic Fog function, which mainly relates to activities in the DMZ:
Dynamic Fog
Vondel is actually beneath sea level and sits on top of a system of canals; therefore, under some dire weather circumstances, fog may be present there. According to preliminary information, fog could appear during DMZ infiltrations and in other game modes on infrequent occasions. Gamers can feel more immersed in the game thanks to this unique dynamic fog feature.
Vondel typically has sunny days with little, if any, clouds in the sky, particularly in Resurgence and Battle Royale modes. Nevertheless, the marine layer raises the probability of fog developing. Unless you are at really distant ranges, it is usually light enough for you to recognize your opponent. Still, the density of the fog will occasionally reach the level in the following screenshot.
When the fog of this intensity threatens to engulf an area, it may be strategically prudent to reconsider engaging in combat, look for weapon optics to overcome the conditions, or go indoors to improve your chances of winning.
Additional Features
Watch out for several brand-new features to arrive on Vondel, a few of which may also be seen on all Warzone maps:
The Tactical Amphibious Vehicle (TAV).
This 4-passenger car can traverse water and land, thus serving as the ideal mode of transportation for Vondel’s streets and canals.
The TAV is an all-purpose transport for navigating the streets and canals of Vondel, even though it might not be the quickest vehicle on water or land due to its amphibious nature. To see the TAV’s value in the vehicle lineup, just drive it off the pavement and onto the water or come out from it onto an exit ramp.
There is plenty of room for the whole squad, too, so don’t leave any of them behind without a tactical plan in and out of Vondel’s waterways.
Favorite Supply Box
The Favorite Supply Box, initially referred to as the “Personal Supply Box” in the first Call of Duty: Warzone, is a coveted container that, once opened, activates your preferred armament and places it nearby for you to acquire and use swiftly.
Since the Favorite Supply Box selects the Primary and Secondary Weapons from the Favorite Loadout you select, in addition to ammunition and an armor plate, every Operator’s Favorite Supply Box will, in principle, contain various items. Before your match starts:
- Browse the Warzone menu’s Weapons section.
- Mouse over a Custom Loadout.
- Choose “Set to Favorite” to pick a Favorite Loadout.
- If there is a star icon near the Loadout, it means it’s working. Your Favorite Loadout by default is your first Custom Loadout.
Don’t forget that this Supply Box is uncommon in Vondel, so whenever you locate one, obtain your preferred weaponry out of it as soon as possible to prevent an opposing player from getting their hands on yours!
Reinforcement Flare
This Field Upgrade’s goal is to reinforce your team through squadmate redeployment, and it can be a game-changer in Battle Royale battles.
The Reinforcement Flare might be utilized to announce the arrival of a random squad member upon being purchased at a Buy Station or discovered through scavenging. This resembles a “Buy Station Redeployment” in some ways but without the option of selecting which individuals are brought back to life.
Take this Field Upgrade as a dangerous yet high-reward choice for that end-game loadout because the signal flare in the sky exposes you to your enemies.
New Public Event: High Stakes
Vondel will debut with a brand-new Public Event called High Stakes alongside the existing Public Events available in Battle Royale and Resurgence matches.
Numerous Loadout-sized containers will fall from the sky when it first begins. Acquiring them will award Double Weapon and Player XP during the match. Will this bonus stack with Double XP Tokens or Double XP Events? The answer is yes!
QUADRUPLE XP will be awarded to an Operator with Double XP activated if they or a teammate successfully acquire this package.
Once these crates start dropping from the sky, get ready to double down since they are a true blessing for those trying to rank up rapidly.
Taxicabs on the Canals
Vondel has a train station similar to Al Mazrah. Still, considering the vast network of canals and the burning debris on the rails, there must be an alternative way to go about the city in an autonomous car.
Enter the Taxicab, a self-propelled vessel available as part of the Assault on Vondel Event (covered in more length in this blog’s section on the general overview). These auto-piloted boats, which will be used after Stage I of the Assault on Vondel is over, cruise along the canals along predetermined courses. Operators can optionally “speed them up” if their sluggish pace proves insufficient for active firefights.
The Sandstorm Subsides in Al Mazrah
A sandstorm is no longer buffeting operators and fighters in Al Mazrah, but downtown has already sustained a significant amount of destruction.
There are currently multiple sand banks in Al Mazrah City that can be scaled, providing fresh and inventive approaches to a few of the city’s most notable structures. Expect a large sand dune near the TV tower, the Embassy, and the “Highrise” building. Additionally, the dunes built up across certain roads, including portions of the highway system, and entire buildings virtually submerged in the central downtown area.
Additionally, some partial devastation will offer novel methods to enter, navigate, and exit the city. The Patch Notes will include more information on the Al Mazrah improvements.
What Should Players Expect During The Mid-Season?
S4 Reloaded doesn’t need to be delayed, particularly as you’ll want to be on Vondel at the beginning to discover its mysteries.
Fans of traditional Battle Royale should be aware that S4 Reloaded will mark the debut of this primary mode on Vondel. This consists of a brand-new underground Gulag for Vondel tucked away amid the city’s older, more medieval neighborhoods.
The reintroduction of the Occupation Scan Public Event and a new quest will be accessible in the middle of the season.
