Dragonflight Patch Roadmap
Although there isn’t a confirmed release date for Patch 10.1.7, the Dragonflight patch roadmap has indicated its debut in fall 2023. Observing Blizzard’s recent bi-monthly update frequency, a September or October launch seems plausible, especially considering Patch 10.1.5’s July 11 release.

Patch 10.1.7 Highlights
Dragon Isles
Dreamsurge: A Dreamy Addition
In the spotlight of Patch 10.1.7 is the Dreamsurge feature. With it, one of the Dragon Isles’ original zones transforms weekly. This zone becomes the epicenter of world quests, activities, weeklies, and the sought-after Waking Dream portals. And there’s more – a votable buff feature adds a layer of interaction and empowerment for players.
New Ping System: Game Communication Reimagined
Communication barriers have plagued many gaming experiences. Recognizing this, Blizzard introduces a new ping system in this patch. Now, with a simple combination of G and Left Mouse Button, players can swiftly communicate commands without relying on voice or text.
Mistweaver Monk Mana Improvements
Mistweaver Monk aficionados, your mana prayers have been heard! Expect enhancements to the Mana Tea ability to alleviate mana management woes.

Regional Buffs:
- New buff every 30 minutes.
- Players determine buffs by collecting and voting with Dreamsurge Coalescence.
2. Character Evolution
Velen’s Prophecy:
- Chart a novel trajectory for the Draenei community.
- Note: Draenei temporarily turned off to fix a bug.
Heritage Armor Rollout:
- Now accessible for Night Elf and Forsaken characters.
- Quest lines related to Heritage armor are absent on PTR.
Customization for Forsaken:
- Inclusion of five new skin tones.
- These hues will soon be available for female Forsaken in future PTR builds.
3. Class Rebalancing
Monk
- Energizing the Brews and Teas: The Mistweaver monks see a novel talent: Energizing Brew. This speeds up Mana Tea‘s channeling by half while ensuring it is 20% more productive in mana generation.
- The New Essence of Mana Tea: Mana Tea has undergone a redesign. Players accrue one Mana Tea stack for every chunk of 25,000 mana expended at level 70. These stacks also can double based on the player’s critical strike chance.
- The Vitality of Lifecycles: Lifecycles also witness a redesign, interconnecting Vivify, Rising Sun Kick, and Enveloping Mist in a cohesive mana generation chain.
- Shuffling Skills and Talents: We observe a few shifts in skills and talents, such as Mastery of Mist becoming a standard effect and Spirit of the Crane being removed.
Druid
- The Prowess of Master Shapeshifter: Restoration Druids are blessed with Master Shapeshifter talent, a fascinating inclusion that augments abilities based on the active shapeshift form.
- Guardians of the Grove: A new talent on the block, Grove Guardians, allows the summoning of a Treant that provides immediate healing support.
- Synthesis and Growth: Wild Synthesis experiences an upgrade, especially when combined with Grove Guardians. Your Treants now cast Wild Growth, amplifying healing over a duration.
- Refinements and Removals: While Embrace of the Dream sees a reduction in healing, both Deep Focus and Forest’s Flow have been removed from the game.
Paladin
- Radiance from the Tower: Holy Paladins will find the Tower of Radiance more synergistic, as it now enables Flash of Light and Holy Light to be Holy Power generators.
Priest
- The Mercy of Angels: Priests witness a change in Angel’s Mercy. This redesigned talent now facilitates a quicker cooldown for Desperate Prayer, reducing the wait by 20 seconds.
4. PvP Talent Changes
Demon Hunter – Vengeance
Illidan’s Grasp Redesign:
- Old Mechanic: Fixed location channel with damage and stun.
- New Mechanic: Dynamic channel allowing movement with periodic shadow damage and stun.
- Additional Toss Feature: Using Illidan’s Grasp again will toss the target to a location within 40 yards, stunning them and all nearby enemies for three seconds and dealing shadow damage.
Developers’ Notes: The Illidan’s Grasp talent now cancels its channel when other actions are taken, instead dealing periodic damage for the duration. The developers believe this adjustment better aligns with gameplay expectations and is easier to comprehend.
Druid – Restoration
Removal of the Master Shapeshifter Talent:
- Old Mechanic: Master Shapeshifter was available as a PvP talent option.
- New Mechanic: Master Shapeshifter has been removed as a PvP talent option.
Removing the Master Shapeshifter‘s talent necessitates a rethink of strategies and adaptation to a changing game environment.
5. New In-game Rewards
6. Hallow’s End Updates
- Public Test Realm (PTR): For two weeks, test out the upcoming Hallow’s End content and provide valuable feedback.
Headless Horseman Dungeon Encounter
- New Feature: Enhance the encounter’s difficulty with new mechanics by speaking to the Wicker men at the dungeon entrance.
- Curses: Not party-wide and only affect players who enable them.
7. Revolutionary Ping System
Ping Commands and the Ping Wheel
Now, with the ping system, you can quickly call out crucial commands to your teammates. Here are the available commands:
- /ping
- /ping attack
- /ping assist
- /ping onmyway
- /ping warning
- /ping [@target] attack

- An eye-catching animation for the new mail icon.
- Improved visibility of the scroll bar in the Dragon Isles Summary window.
- Updated Battle.net quest icon.
- Revisions to Ping System settings and the ping radial wheel categories.
8. Enhanced Real-Time Chat Moderation
- Harassment Prevention: Any whisper potentially containing harassment from non-friends will now be hidden. If you wish to view the message, you’ll be given a warning prompt and an option to report the offending player directly from the message.
- Party Lead Icon Size Increase: To make identification more accessible, the Party Lead icon size in Dungeon and Raid queue prompts has been magnified.
9. Dungeon & Raid Updates
- The Dawn of the Infinite Split: This mega-dungeon has been divided into two separate dungeons on Heroic difficulty: “Galakrond’s Fall” and “Murozond’s Rise.” This change introduces diverse experiences for players.
- Access to Heroic Difficulty: Players can access the Heroic difficulty through the Dungeon Finder or by walking into the instance, offering greater accessibility.
