Destiny 2 Season Of The Witch: Overview

The long-anticipated Season 22 is finally live, and it’s packed with content, including a new story, activities, weapons, armor, and many more. Our guide is here to walk you through everything that’s made (and will make) its way to the game in Season of the Witch. Let’s get started!

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Season of the Witch Story and Activities

The Destiny 2 Showcase revealed a lot about the new season that will run until November 28. This time, we will see Guardians trying to contact Savathun through her ghost, Immaru. As seen in the trailer below, Eris Morn will become a Hive entity to seek vengeance against those who stole her Light. To aid the Guardians in their fight against the season’s antagonist, Xivu Arath, she will also bestow upon them the power of the Hive.

To test their new power, Guardians can participate in two matchmade seasonal activities – Altars of Summoning and Savathun’s Spire.

  • Altars of Summoning is a three-player mode where you need to collect tithes to fill a Hive bucket for rewards that include armor and weapons.
  • Savathun’s Spire is also a three-player mode but an offensive one. According to its description, you need to power the spire and face enemies to get to the Altars of Summoning.

New Features Introduced in Season 22

There are plenty of these that were brought alongside the new season, so let’s see what we should expect.

Deck of Whispers

This is a new progression system that allows you to collect cards needed for building a deck. Once you do that, you will earn rewards and perks on the battlefield, like Arc jolt added to your damage.

Exotic Rotator Mission

This new feature will bring some of the best missions back to the game that you can complete to earn Exotics. The first mission is Presage with the craftable Dead Man’s Tale. Other missions – Vox Obscura (Dead Messenger) and Operation: Seraph Station (Revision Zero) – will be added to the rotator during the season.

New Map and Mode for Crucible

Season of the Witch features a new PvP map called Multiplex that’s set in the Vex network. Moreover, the players can enjoy the new 6v6 Relic mode, where they can fight using relic items from past raids and seasonal activities.

New Strand Aspects

There will be three new Strand Aspects added to the game, and these are:

  • Whirling Maelstrom (Hunter)
  • Banner of War (Titan)
  • Weavewalk (Warlock)

Crota's End Raid

The new season will introduce a new raid, Crota’s End, which many veterans will recognize from the original game. It’s set to be released on September 1 with the Contest mode enabled for the first 48 hours. Guardians will have to travel to Earth’s Moon and face Crota, son of the Taken King. Check out the epic trailer below.

New Weapons

Let’s start with Exotics. Season of the Witch introduces Ex Diris, which those who own a Season Pass can unlock at level 1. This is an Exotic Grenade Launcher, and here’s its description: “This weapon enrages when dealing or taking sustained damage, gaining increased rate of fire while enraged. Final blows with this weapon create a loyal moth. The moth will seek out nearby targets and detonate, damaging and blinding them.”

On top of that, those who pre-ordered The Final Shape’s Annual Pass can get their hands on another Exotic called Tessellation. This is a Fusion Rifle that may be equipped in the Energy slot and uses Special ammo. Since it always corresponds to the element of the player’s subclass, it has no associated element. This is a one-of-a-kind benefit that opens the door to potentially game-changing builds.

Furthermore, there will be new and returning weapons available for completing the game’s activities. So get ready to chase after:

In addition, we now have six seasonal weapons that you can unlock. Head Rush is an origin trait that comes with all activity firearms. It greatly improves the reload time and weapon control after a prolonged crouch.

Of course, there’ll also be a pool of weapons that can be earned for completing the new raid, but now there’s no info on what those arms are. Thus, we need to wait for Crota’s End to be released to see what we can obtain as rewards.

New Armor

No season goes without introducing new armor sets; this time is no exception. There are two sets available for grabs, each corresponding to the season’s theme. Check out how awesome they look!
