Destiny 2 Answers Year of Prophecy Questions

Bungie has responded to fan feedback after the Year of Prophecy reveal, addressing major concerns around Renegades’ story, Power level resets, vault space upgrades, and the new Portal feature coming in Destiny 2.

🔍 But What’s Been Confirmed So Far?

The post-reveal discussion gave Guardians a clearer look at what to expect in Edge of Fate (launching July 15) and Renegades (arriving December 2). Here’s a breakdown of Bungie’s official clarifications:

🪐 Renegades Is 100% Canon—Despite the Star Wars Vibe

Table of Contents

Players questioning Renegades’ galactic tone can rest easy. Though inspired by Star Wars aesthetics, Bungie clarified that Renegades is fully in-canon and uses Destiny’s own characters, not outside IP.

“We’re leaning into the aesthetic, tone, and vibe of Star Wars to tell a Destiny story with Destiny characters.” – Robbie Stevens, Assistant Game Director

This expansion continues the Fate Saga while visually branching into bold new territory—without stepping outside Destiny’s narrative universe.

🧰 Vault Space Upgrade Coming (But Not in July)

If you were hoping for more vault slots in Edge of Fate, it won’t happen just yet. Bungie confirmed:

“Vault space is not changing in The Edge of Fate, but we do have additional vault space and quality-of-life features planned for Renegades later this year.”

That means you’ll need to keep managing your loadout carefully—at least until December.

🗺️ The Director Is Staying—Portal Is Just a Companion Tool

With the reveal of The Portal, some players feared that Destiny’s classic Director map would be removed. Bungie clarified: the Director isn’t going anywhere. Instead, the new Portal interface will help players navigate Destiny’s vast content more intuitively.

The Director remains accessible via a new “Worlds” tab, while Portal helps guide moment-to-moment gameplay.

⚡ Power Reset Confirmed for Edge of Fate

That gear showing a 10 Power rating? It wasn’t a bug. Destiny 2’s Power system is getting refreshed for the launch of Edge of Fate.

“Power will be rebased at launch! All players will have their Power refreshed as we embark on this new journey,” Bungie confirmed.

More info on progression and caps will be revealed in future updates, but expect a clean slate across the board.

💎 Reward Pass Pricing and Structure Locked In

Bungie also confirmed pricing for Year of Prophecy Reward Passes:

  • Each Pass costs 1000 Silver
  • Each includes:
    • A new Exotic weapon
    • A full universal ornament set
    • Additional cosmetics

This structure mirrors seasonal passes from previous years, offering focused rewards aligned with Destiny’s evolving model.

📰 What’s Next?

Bungie emphasized that this is just the beginning of their Year of Prophecy comms strategy. More updates will come via livestreams, developer blog posts, and interviews as Edge of Fate approaches.
