Introducing Heroes

Heroes are the characters you play in the game, and each of them has a special role. Thus, choosing the hero and its role is crucial for your gaming experience. But how to know which one to choose? Let’s take a closer look at them.

Choosing the Role

There are a total of six classes you can choose from:

  • Tank
  • Fighter
  • Assassin
  • Mage
  • Marksman
  • Support

Tanks have high Health Points (HP) and defense, which make them perfect for absorbing damage and shattering the opponent’s team. So, if you like standing at the front, attracting the enemy’s attention, and soaking up damage, this class might suit you well.

The great Tank heroes are Tigreal, Johnson, and Grock.

Fighters can boast a balance between defense, HP, and damage, which allows them to stay alive for a long time during the fight. That way, if you prefer to dive into action right away by battling and killing enemies, this role will be perfect for you.

Chou, Sun, and Ruby are good examples of Fighters in the game.

Assassins are the sneaky members of the team who are exceptionally good at taking enemies by surprise. They have low HP, but their damage is high, so they are great for ambushing opponents. If you like such a playstyle, the Assassin might be the right role for you.

Saber, Fanny, Helcurt, and Hayabusa are among the best Assassins in the game.

Mages like Eudora, Pharsa, Alice, and Harith are damage dealers who excel at long-ranged attacks. With high mana and low defense, they use their spells to weaken the enemies and control the fights. So, if you like casting spells and damage opponents from afar, choose Mage.

Marksmen are killers who also prefer to take down enemies from a distance. Their high damage but low defense and mobility allow them to kill opponents effectively while being protected by their team. If this sounds like something you would enjoy doing, pick up the Marksman.

Examples of Marksmen are Miya, Layla, and Lesley.

Last but not least on this list are Supports, who are great at keeping their team alive. They have high mana and low defense, but their spells are strong enough to help their team stand against the enemies. If you like being in the backline and aiding your team rather than killing others, this role is for you.

Estes, Angela, Diggie, and Rafaela are great examples of the Support class.

How to Master Your Hero

Once you choose the hero and their role, you need to know how to master them. Every character has a set of skills (usually, there are three of them) that interact with each other. One of them is passive which becomes active automatically when certain requirements are fulfilled. The others are active.

These skills are the buttons located at the bottom right of the screen. They are also ordered from bottom to top, with the Ultimate skill placed at the top.

Naturally, to fully unleash your hero’s potential, you need to be familiar with the skills they possess and what each of them does. To learn that info and your character’s attributes, press the arrow to the right of the Ultimate skill. And to read the full description of the skills, there’s a Heroes tab at the bottom of the home screen.

What are Battle Spells?

Battle Spells are special spells that you can choose before you begin the match. They can help you get an advantage in the game by either enhancing your character’s power or compensating for their weaknesses.

There are a total of 12 Battle Spells in the game, each is accessible once you reach a certain level. To unlock all of them, you need to be at level 23. With that being said, here’s the list of spells:

To know which spells are the best for your hero, you can try them out in the game by playing practice sessions.

Selecting the Optimal Equipment

Equipment

Equipment is items that make your character stronger. The good news is you can buy them anywhere at any time on the battlefield. However, one hero can have up to six items.

The game offers 99 items (not including heroes’ special items) that are divided into six categories:

  • Attack
  • Magic
  • Defense
  • Movement
  • Jungling
  • Roaming

As you can guess, each of the categories enhances the corresponding ability, making the choosing process easier. The last two on the list can be mixed in the movement item. But how to pick the right item?

Actually, it is not that hard. As you begin your journey in the game, you can always check what PRO players choose for their character through PROs Builds located in the Preparation tab. Moreover, you can craft your own build in My Builds.

That way, the game will show you what items to buy in the match. You can find items for purchase highlighted by two bright gold circles in the top right area of your screen. The top circle shows the item you need first, and the one below is your next priority. To change the order of your items, just click on the rectangular bar (it has a dollar sign) in the top right corner. This will open the shop for you.

When the fight is getting harder, buying the right gear can help you win the match, so don’t hesitate to do that. For instance, if the opponent team has many mages, you can purchase a defensive item that resists magic damage. In that case, your chances of winning will drastically decrease.

The Map: An overview

Understanding the map is key to becoming better at the game, as it allows you to have an advantage over the foes and communicate with the team efficiently. So, let’s start our introduction to the map.

It is divided into three areas: Base, Lanes, and Jungle. The places at the bottom left and the top right of the screen are the Bases of the two teams. The Lanes are split into the gold, middle, and EXP ones. Usually, the lanes are called top, mid, and bottom, depending on their positions on the mini-map. The rest of the areas are the Jungle.

Buffs

You can find different monsters in the Jungle that give buffs, therefore, boosting your hero’s power. On the map, there are dots and symbols that stand for different monsters and buffs. These are purple, green, gold, and blue dots and Turtle and Sword symbols. Here’s how some of them work.

Molten Fiend/Core Guard (Orange buff)

  • For 75 seconds, grants the killer a certain amount of adaptive penetration (physical penetration if the hero’s extra physical attack isn’t lower than their magic power, and magic penetration if otherwise).
  • Molten Morale: The killer’s attacks on enemy heroes deal extra damage according to their role, and slow the target for one second. This effect has a cooldown of three seconds.

Assassin/Fighter/Tank: 5% adaptive penetration, deals 50 (+20% physical attack) (+3000% attack speed) extra true damage and slows the target by 60%.

Marksman/Mage/Support: 10% adaptive penetration, deals 50 (+30% physical attack) (+5000% attack speed) extra true damage and slows the target by 20%.

Thunder Fenrir/Serpent/Statued Shocker (Purple buff)

  • For 75 seconds, reduces the killer’s skill cooldown by 10%, mana cost by 60%, and energy cost by 25%.
  • Thunder Morale: The killer restores max HP according to the type of unit they kill (3% for minions, 5% for heroes, and 12% for creeps).

Some of the heroes can benefit more from this buff than others. For instance, Assassin should have priority in gaining it over Supports, as it will help their team to get some early kills.

Dragon Turtle or Cryoturtle (Turtle symbol)

The turtle is one of the two boss monsters and appears between the first two minutes of the match. Killing it grants gold and experience points for the team.

Lord or Elemental Lord (Sword symbol)

This one is the second boss monster that spawns after eight minutes of the match. Besides gold and experience points, killing it gives the team a chance to summon it to fight on their side, which is quite an advantage.

Monsters at the purple dots grant ability buff; monsters at the green dots give mana and HP buffs; the gold ones provide gold buffs.

The Usage of Camera

Camera is always locked onto the hero

The camera can drastically improve your game if you learn how to use it. This will allow you to be aware of your surroundings and have an advantage over your enemies, as you know where they are, what areas to avoid, and how the whole fight is going.

The camera is fixed on the character, but you can tap and swipe the screen to look at other places and get a picture of what is going on around you. At first, you might feel awkward trying to use this tip, but after some practice, you will master the skill and benefit greatly from it.

Positioning in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

mlbbteams

This is one of the crucial parts of improving your game that can significantly help your team secure victory. Positioning means keeping the right distance between your character and others during a game.

If you’re not careful about your position, the enemy could kill your character. This gives them an advantage, and they could win team fights. Bad positioning can also stop you from playing your role in the game. Like, if you’re playing a tank character who should be upfront taking hits, but you hang back, your team can take damage they shouldn’t.

Knowing your character’s role can help you stay in the right spot during team fights. Usually, Tanks go up front, then Fighters, Mages, Marksmen, and Support. Assassins stay out of the way until they see a chance to attack an enemy who’s in a bad spot.

Battle Points

You can purchase heroes for BP

Battle Points (BP) is one of the in-game currencies that you can use to purchase heroes. Yes, they are not free, except for starting characters like Miya and Layla. There are around 120 heroes in the game, each costing from 6,200 to 32,000 BP. So, if you want a specific hero, you’ll need to save up a lot of BP, so don’t spend them right away.

To save BP in Mobile Legends, use the free random heroes they give you each week. Try different characters to see which type you like best. Then, save up and use your BP to get a hero you liked. Buying characters you don’t end up playing is a waste of your BP and effort.

Moreover, you can always research the meta to see which heroes are now the best and which aren’t. But remember that the meta is always shifting, so try to keep up with the latest updates.

Be on Top from the Beginning
