Al Mazrah – The Map of Warzone 2.0

Maps in Warzone aren’t just a random collection of Points of Interest (POIs). They play a huge role in the plot development as most of the post-single-player campaign events take place in Warzone. Verdansk has earned the status of “classic” and has seen many visual and gameplay changes through various events and seasons. The Rebirth Island and Caldera were great in their own way. When everyone learned about Warzone 2, the big question was – will the new map be as good as Verdansk? Today we’ll try to answer this question. We’ll go over all of the new map’s POIs and see if any of the CoD classics have found their place on this map.

Learning the Map the Right Way

Al Mazrah is the name of the new map of Warzone 2. It is the middle-eastern themed map that inherited a lot of places from Verdansk and traditional CoD multiplayer maps. Al Mazrah features a diverse set of locations – from the business center of downtown with a couple of skyscrapers, banks, and countless shops, to industrial areas with its own Quarry, mining operation, and more. On top of that, you will find that Al Mazrah has its own stadium, huge airport, a weather station with an observatory, and other creative POIs. With this many diverse locations, it is really hard to keep track of what’s where.

Luckily, the developers have planned for this, which is why they divided the entire map into 6 parts or sectors, each of which contains a number of POIs.

al-mazrah-sectors

Sector 1 - Northwest

Starting in the northwest corner of Al Mazrah, this sector includes 5 POIs.

  • Oasis
  • Taraq Village
  • Western Foothills
  • Rohan Oil Refinery
  • Al Safwa Quarry

The Oasis doesn’t have a lot of cover to hide behind, as the only structures there are mostly hidden under the sand, ancient ruins. Across the railway from the Oasis is the abandoned Taraq Village which features mostly 1-story buildings and narrow streets that are perfect for losing the tail of enemies. Going from the remnants of the ancient history of Oasis to the southwest, you will find yourself in an industrial area of the Rohan Oil Refinery. It is an interesting location that features various types of buildings, such as administrative offices, large hangars and storage facilities, and even some underground tunnels and passageways.

To the southwest of the Refinery, you’ll find the Quarry that is reminiscent of Verdansk’s Quarry. It is a mixture of open spaces and a maze-like collection of marble blocks where you can easily get lost. Of course, Quarry also features several industrial and construction-style buildings.

Sector 2 - Northeast

capital

  • North Industrial
  • Western Outskirts
  • Al Mazrah City
  • Eastern Outskirts
  • Southern Outskirts
  • Zarqwa Hydroelectric
  • Mawizeh Marshlands
  • East Suburbs

Sector 2 is the largest set of locations on the map, as it is mostly occupied by Al Mazrah City – the biggest and most modern location in the game that features a large variety of urban landscapes. The river goes through the city, starting in the northern part that has warehouses of all sorts. The heart of the city is where you’ll find enormous buildings with multiple floors available for exploration and combat. Specifically, make sure to visit the following:

  • Channel 7 TV Tower is a huge rectangle-shaped building with a tall antenna on the roof
  • US Embassy – a POI that’s managed to incorporate not one but two classic CoD maps: the Terminal and the Highrise.

Around the borders of the city, you will find lots of suburban houses and other kinds of settlements and villages.

However, Al Mazrah City is not the only massive POI available in Sector 2. Let’s not ignore the massive Zarqwa Hydroelectric POI that is essentially a combination of a dam and a power facility interconnected with all types of maintenance passages and bridges.

Last but not least, the Mawizeh Marshlands that you will want to explore the to find some extra loot from the Hawizeh Resort, which can be found on a little island right in the center of the marsh.

Sector 3 - West

caves

The third sector, which is situated to the west of everything else, includes 3 vastly different POIs:

  • Sattiq Cave Complex
  • Hafid Port
  • Sa’id City

The more rural Sattiq Cave complex features lots of underground spaces, as the name implies. Its dark tunnels are perfect for carrying out sneaky flanks. To the southwest of the caves, you will find the Hafid Port. There’s not much you can say about this location. It looks just like you would imagine. If you enjoy the newly added naval combat, then perhaps, Hafid Port will be your go-to landing location. To the east of the port, you’ll find Sa’id City. It is considerably smaller than Al Mazrah city, but it has that iconic shopping mall and stadium!

Sector 4 - the Center

The fourth sector is situated practically in the heart of the map, and it has some of the most elevated terrains. This part of the map contains 4 POIs:

  • Northwest Mountain
  • Zaya Observatory
  • Al Sharim Pass
  • Ahkdar Village

Of course, the most intriguing location to visit would be the mountain and the observatory complex atop it. The mountain itself is rather difficult to scale, with only a handful of zip line ascenders available around the perimeter.

Sector 4 on the Warzone 2 map is dominated by mountains and winding trails making for slow progress, though there are ascenders dotted around to help you take shortcuts. The standout structures are the radar dome and telescopes to the west, and although you can’t climb up all of them from the inside, they are open at the roof to allow access when landing from above. Heading east will bring you to tiered farmlands that can lead to multilevel combat, and in the settlement, you’ll find several towers to provide sightlines over the surrounding area. Down in Ahkdar Village to the south is an ancient walled settlement featuring a bazaar, apartments, ornate archways, and winding walkways, with lots of rooftops to allow vertical combat. The peak of the mountain is where you’ll find the domes with the gigantic telescopes designed to study the stars and the weather. These unique buildings provide interesting gameplay since you can’t really find buildings with this shape anywhere else.

But down at the foot of the mountain, you’ll find a sizeable village with a market and small houses.

Sector 5 - Southwest

Just south of the Sa’id City from Sector 3, you’ll find two POIs that make sector 5:

  • El Samman Cemetery
  • Sawah Village

The cemetery is quite large, and the only type of cover there are the gravestones. But from there you can go straight to the Sawah Village. This village is half-sunk under the water, so fighting there won’t be easy. Treading water will make your character slow, and your only salvation would be to hold a fort on one of the building’s upper floors. But if that doesn’t scare you, then you are welcome to explore one of the several tankers that have been left unchecked and deserted.

Sector 6 - South

fortress

The last and the south-most sector of the map includes 3 large and multilevel POIs:

  • Sarrif Bay
  • Al Malik Airport
  • Al Bagra Fortress

The final area on the Warzone 2 map is Sector 6, which features several significant structures in Al Mazrah. Sarrif Bay to the west includes an extensive holiday resort with tents and a swimming pool, along with hotels and residential buildings to search for loot. In the east is Al Malik Airport, with a damaged runway and an expansive terminal building to explore, plus a control tower that provides a great sniper overview of the whole landmark. Al Bagra Fortress to the south is a giant medieval walled city that was recently converted to a museum, and the large interior space, coupled with surrounding narrow passageways and a maze of underground tunnels, offers a variety of combat encounters.

Sarrif Bay is where you’ll find a massive resort with numerous large hotels, vacation tents, a swimming pool, and other residential houses. To the east, you’ll find a massive Al Malik Airport with a full-scale runway for places, several hangars, and an immense terminal building with gates, a shopping area, luggage conveyors, a parking area, and everything else that a real airport should have. Some of the areas are closed off. For instance, the main entrance is off-limits to the players, which can make it frustrating for players who are trying to leave the airport, as they will have to circle back to the back of the building.

South of both the resort and the airport, on a separate island, is the Al Bagra Fortress. It is a giant medieval castle that has a museum, a catacomb system, and a spacious interior area.

Win No Matter Where You Land

As you can see, Al Mazrah features a wonderful collection of truly unique POIs, and there’s a great variety of terrain types. When coupled with the increased traversal methods, skilled players will be able to navigate around the map with ease. Hopefully, this little overview will help you get around the new map with less frustration. By the way, if you continue to struggle with this map, if you can’t decide which POI you should land in at the start of the match, how to rotate from one POI to another, you should try services from LFCarry.com and team up with Warzone 2 PRO players. They’ll help you learn the map even faster and get lots of wins in the process. But that’s all from me today. Tune in later for more articles about your favorite games!
