As the much-anticipated Festival of the Lost 2023 approaches, the community is buzzing with excitement and curiosity. While Bungie has yet to release official details, some eagle-eyed data miners have managed to unearth a treasure trove of information about the items and weapons we are set to encounter in this year’s event. So, hold onto your seats as we unravel the secrets that the Festival of the Lost 2023 holds, based on the latest D2 datamine intel and the info from the devs!

What is the Festival of the Lost Start Date?
As the Festival of the Lost is a seasonal event, it traditionally graces the world of Destiny 2 in October. And, as was confirmed by the devs, the event will kick off on October 17, 2023, and most likely run through November 7, 2023, giving Guardians ample time to immerse themselves in the eerie yet exhilarating festivities that encapsulate the spirit of the season.
Eerie Engrams and Hocus Focusing Explained
This year’s Festival of the Lost will introduce many new additions, one of which is the new currency called Eerie Engrams that you can get by completing Haunted Lost Sectors. If you want to increase your chances of acquiring these, make sure to run the Legend version of the activity, which will be introduced during the event as well.
The Eerie Engrams, alongside the Candy currency (earned by wearing the event’s mask during activities), can be hocus focused to get specific loot from our beloved space grandma Eva Levante, including Exotics and Legendary Festival of the Lost weapons. Here are the categories available and the requirements for them:
- Random Festival of the Lost Weapon — 1 Eerie Engram, 500 Candy
- Specific Festival of the Lost Weapon — 1 Eerie Engram, 1000 Candy
- Exotic Arms — 1 Eerie Engram, 2500 Candy
- Exotic Legs — 1 Eerie Engram, 2500 Candy
- Exotic Helmet — 1 Eerie Engram, 2500 Candy
- Exotic Chest — 1 Eerie Engram, 2500 Candy
This will be your perfect chance to obtain the desired item and replenish your collection.
Festival of the Lost 2023 Armor Sets
Earlier this year, the devs revealed the concepts of the event’s “creepy crawlies”-themed armor sets and asked each class to vote for the ones they want to see in the game during Festival of the Lost Destiny 2 2023. Here they are.
While Hunters and Titans voted for Spooky Spider, Warlocks chose Bone-Chilling Beetle armor sets, and you can finally check how they will look on your Guardian, as the devs shared their image. Take a look!
It’s currently unknown how we can get our hands on these armor sets, but many suggest, based on the previous year’s experience, that they will be available for Silver and Bright Dust during the event.
New Festival of the Lost Masks and Cosmetics
The D2 Festival of the Lost has always been synonymous with unique masks, and this year is no different. Dataminers have revealed that we can expect a total of 8 new masks to grace the event, each bringing a special flair to your Guardian’s look. While we are yet to see official images, the anticipation is already building. Here is a list of the masks that have been datamined:

And here are the datamined models of each.
Besides these, we can also expect a set of new cosmetic items that bring both style and a spooky vibe to this year’s event. From ships to sparrows and ghost shells, the event promises a plethora of items to add to your collection. Here is a sneak peek into some of the cosmetics that data miners have discovered:
