TABLE OF CONTENTS
In the recent WoWcast, the developers revealed what we should expect in the upcoming update, and we also have early Dragonflight patch notes unveiling some details about Guardians of the Dream. According to the official info, the patch will go live on November 7, with the new raid and PvP season is set to arrive on November 14. So, it seems like we have plenty of time to prepare. With that being said, let’s see what the devs have in store for us.
New Story
The story will see Vyranoth turning against her brother Fyrakk and joining forces with Alexstrasza, Tyrande, and others in their attempts to protect Amirdrassil, the new World Tree, whose power the Fire Primalist wants to claim, as we’ve learned from the recent cinematic.
There will also be new chapters involving famous characters like Wrathion, who will be traveling to Outland and Northrend to recruit help. The storyline around Tyr that began in previous patches will also continue in 10.2. Overall, the new Dragonflight patch looks to move the overarching Dragonflight plot forward in major ways, leading into the new raid and zone.
New Zone
During the Guardians of the Dream Reveal, we also learned that one of the biggest new additions in Patch 10.2 is the long-awaited Emerald Dream zone. After being teased since WoW’s early days, players will finally be able to adventure through the ethereal realm that has served as the home of the Green Dragonflight. Inside the Emerald Dream, characters like Merithra and Malfurion Stormrage will make appearances as players battle back the corruption of Fyrakk and his Druids of the Flame.
Expect epic new vistas and fantastical landscapes unlike anywhere else in Azeroth. The Emerald Dream will also contain new features like the “Superbloom” public event and world boss Aurostor the Hibernating.
Moreover, there, we’ll meet our new allies, Dream Wardens, the faction of Druids, Dryads, and Moonkin. They will be our primary point of communication and help us with progression.
New Raid
Patch 10.2 also brings a new nine-boss raid called Amirdrassil, the Dream’s Hope, set within the Emerald Dream zone. The raid revolves around protecting the newly planted WorldTtree Amirdrassil from Primal Incarnate Fyrakk, who serves as the final boss. Much like the previous raid in this expansion, Amirdrassil, the Dream’s Hope will launch with all difficulties available right away. The stakes are high as players take the fight to Fyrakk in his seat of power to prevent him from corrupting the Emerald Dream. Expect gorgeous visuals and challenging boss fights in the latest Dragonflight raid.
Among the raid bosses, we will see:
- Nymue, Weaver of the Cycle: She resides in a chamber representing the purest form of the Emerald Dream and orders the weave of the dream, representing creation and protection.
- Smolderon: The Firelord found in a wing of the temple destroyed by Fyrakk and his molten allies. The encounter involves battling through areas where the Fireland has been brought into the temple.
- Tendril Sageswift: A leader of the Druids of the Flame, marking the resurgence of this group, which has been recruiting more members since the burning of Teldrassil.
What’s interesting is that, for the first time, players will be able to dragonride in a raid encounter during the battle with Tendril Sageswift, flying around Amirdrassil and navigating through obstacles like fireballs. That sounds intriguing!
The full list of raid bosses you can find below.
New Legendary
Alongside new challenges, we’ll also get new rewards like the brand-new Legendary – Fyr’alath, the Dream Render. Wielded by Fyrakk, this two-handed axe will be a reward in the new raid, though the exact method to earn it is yet to be revealed. It is part of an effort to offer players a rewarding experience over time. Check out how sick it looks!
New Mythic+ Dungeon Rotation
Mythic+ is getting a shakeup in Season 3 with eight new dungeons entering the rotation. For the first time, there will be no repeats from previous seasons. The lineup includes classics like Black Rook Hold and Throne of the Tides alongside more recent entries like Dawn of the Infinite: Galakrond’s Fall. With thematic connections to the Emerald Dream, druids, and night elves, the Season 3 dungeons should complement the rest of Patch 10.2’s content. Players can look forward to pushing new keystone affixes and abilities in these dungeons when the new season goes live.
Here’s the list of dungeons that will be in rotation:
- Dawn of the Infinite: Galakrond’s Fall
- Dawn of the Infinite: Murozond’s Rise
- Waycrest Manor
- Atal’dazar
- Black Rook Hold
- Darkheart Thicket
- The Everbloom
- Throne of the Tides
Dragonriding Updates
Dragonflight’s signature feature, dragonriding, will receive more additions in 10.2. New dragonriding glyphs and abilities will allow for further customization and mastery of aerial combat and traversal. Two new mounts are also coming – a Faerie Dragon for completing the Dragon Isles campaign and the first non-dragon mount that uses the dragonriding system, the Fire Owl. With new dragonriding races present in the Emerald Dream zone, players will be able to take to the skies and explore the Emerald Dream in style.
Other Updates
Beyond the major features, Patch 10.2 contains many quality-of-life improvements and updates. The user interface is getting refreshed with visual tweaks to things like the quest log and Hunter stable.
PvP is also getting some love with a new season and the addition of Battleground Brawl. This brawl will introduce a solo queue mode for pre-existing rated battlegrounds. All in all, 10.2 looks to be a broad update, improving many aspects of the Dragonflight experience.
