What Is The Trial Of The Ancestors?

The Trial of the Ancestors is a competition in which each Karui tribe’s departed chieftains compete. You will travel to their afterlife and assemble your group of Karui warriors to battle against these tribes there. You’ll face off their chieftains in the tournament to win great rewards.

This league mechanic was influenced by the Auto-Battler genre. Your goal is to eliminate the Totems of your opponents to win the battle. As you compete in matches, you climb ranks, assembling a squad of warriors and gathering equipment and field items that you may use to your advantage. Every win in a game or tournament earns you intense new rewards, such as Skill Point Tattoos, which you may utilize to max your build in new ways. Similar to the Passive Skill Tree, this brand-new progression mechanism is exclusive to the this league.

You can utilize these consumables to improve your character build even further. When applied, tattoos alter a skill tree attribute passive, swapping its benefit for a special bonus. There are many different tattoos, therefore there is certainly at least one tattoo that is useful for each build.

How Do Matches And Tournaments Work?

You can participate in matches by trading Silver Coins, a currency from the long-gone Prophecy League. It lets you participate in the battles. Regardless of where a player is located, activating the coin from your inventory will cause a portal to the afterlife (your base location) to appear.

To enter the Karui Afterlife, you must use tradable silver coins. The first time you’ll speak with an specific NPC. You can also move around and interact with other NPCs,. You ultimately locate the entrance to the arena where you can gather your squad, select your foe, and begin the fight.

1 match costs 1 Silver Coin, and a tournament has many matches. You will receive a single, smaller reward when you win a match. If you win the tournament, though, you will receive a choice of two special rewards. If you want to discover all the new rewards coming to PoE with this exciting new league mechanic, you can check our article here. Remember, the tournament is double-elimination; you may lose once without incurring in any penalties, but upon a second loss, you must restart the tournament from the beginning.

How Will I Choose My Opponents?

You may pick your following opponent’s squad at the match selection screen. You can check which types of Favour you can win by winning the match in the Sponsors column. In the Reward column, you can see what you’ve earned. Keep an eye out for significant rewards during the matches. However, you’ll need to balance them with inferior Favour rewards from other matches.

How Will Ranking And Monster Level Work?

Your “Ranking,” displayed in the lower right corner of the Match selection screen, defines how challenging and rewarding a tournament will be. Every time you win a tournament, your ranking rises; if you go undefeated, the increase will be more significant.

What Are The Ancestral Totems?

The objective of a game is to eliminate the entire opposing team by destroying all of their totems. If your Totem is destroyed, it will kill you immediately, and you won’t be able to regenerate afterward. If this does happen, you’ll have to pray for your teammates to win the match in your honor!

What Does Channeling Totems Mean?

You can destroy a Totem simply by channeling it. That steadily depletes their health. You can do it by holding the left-click key next to a totem. A player will be stunned for 5 seconds if struck while channeling a totem.

Warriors And Positions

You can arrange the Warriors you’ve gathered on the field in the desired position before the game begins. Each of them will have varied abilities and limitations and usually play different roles during the match, so choosing where to place them is crucial to mastering this league mechanic.

Attacker

While playing this position, your only concern should be finding and eliminating rival Warriors. To eliminate them, attackers will launch different attacks towards them. They won’t purposefully move back or attempt to defend totems, though they may unintentionally defend some of your more forward totems. Tanky Warriors are ideal for this position since they can keep the opposing team at a fair distance.

Escort

This position is all about the Warrior following you closely, while also targeting opposing Warriors alongside you. High damage and “on-kill” effects are ideal for this.

Flanker

These Warriors deliberately ignore hostile enemies and try to sneak into the fray to channel opposing totems. Using flankers, which you should do anyway to make a route for them and engage in when you are not under pressure, will mostly eliminate opposing Totems. Warriors adept at stealth or evasion are a good fit for this post.

Defender

These warriors will retreat behind your totems and try to protect them from harm. Nonetheless, they will remain stationary and do nothing if they are not under attack. Warriors with expertise in totem support are a good fit for this position.

How Many Tribes Are There?

There are a total of ten distinct tribes, each one having its own Warriors, equipment, and characteristics. Winning in games grants you Tribal Favor which may be employed to add Warriors, field items, and gear to your squad. To build a winning team with a balanced composition and a consistent approach, it is ideal to combine the talents of Warriors from various Tribes.

How Can I Buy Field Items And Equipment?

Favor may also be utilized to buy Field Items and Equipment to benefit your teammates.

Field items come with a one-time-use consumable totem that activates an effect when clicked, and they may placed in spots on the field like with Warriors. If you aren’t required to use them, unused field items transfer to subsequent games. Your Warriors can be upgraded with equipment. That will improve your stats, add special abilities that change how you utilize your Warriors, improve yourself and your teammates, etc.

Sellback And Rewards

Unused Warriors, Field Items, and Equipment can be returned to Favour Vendors for a discount of 50%. You can sell them back to any vendor you choose. This is crucial for creating the team you desire. It also enables you to convert one kind of Favour into another at a rate of 2:1. Consider purchasing an inexpensive item of Equipment or Warrior and sell it for that final amount you need on Favour to buy an excellent unit.

There are several rewards for the different leagues in Trial of the Ancestors. Skill Point Tattoos are the main reward the Trials of the Ancestors offer. These consumable items add a modifier to the skill tree instead of the passive abilities that grant assigned attributes. Also, there is Hinekora’s Lock, a potent new crafting tool that enables you to predict crafting outcomes, and Omens, consumables that instantly activate from your inventory.
