Savathun is Coming Back

Savathun and her Ghost

Destiny 2 Season of the Deep story revealed a lot to Guardians in the past weeks, with the last revelation taking an exciting turn. As was promised at the beginning of the current season, the Titan’s sea monster, Ahsa, told Guardians how to get through The Witness’s Portal in the Traveler. The answer is Savathun, The Witch Queen, who must help us defeat the main antagonist.

Savathun is one of three Hive Gods who was the antagonist in last year’s The Witch Queen expansion. She tricked the Traveler into giving her the Light powers and was posing as Osiris for a long time. During the DLC’s events, Guardians managed to defeat Savathun; however, her Destiny Ghost, Immaru, escaped, which implied that she would be resurrected at some point. And, considering what we’ve learned, it seems this will happen sooner than later.

What’s interesting is that this time Guardians will likely become allies with their former enemy rather than fight her once again. Knowing that she should help us find a way to defeat The Witness and we’ve already joined forces with other foes, it’s the most obvious course of events. But still, it could be quite dangerous to trust Savathun after all she did and how good she is at lying and pretending. Thus, we must be prepared for anything.

Moreover, given the circumstances, it isn’t entirely unexpected that The Witch Queen will be back in the game. Many players were waiting for this to happen. But with Savathun’s body being with the Vanguard with Eris Morn experimenting on it and we having zero clues of where to find Immaru, it’s still unclear how Savathun will make her return.

Will the next season be about locating the Ghost and performing some sort of ritual that resurrects The Witch Queen? Or will Savathun make her comeback right at the start of the new season? Only one way to find out – to wait for the announcement and news from the devs.

On top of that, some players and experts are interested in what will happen between Savathun and her sister Xivu Arath, who has a crucial role this season. More importantly, when we will encounter her as a Destiny 2 boss. Will it happen at the end of some raid or during The Final Shape campaign? Once again, all we can do right now is wait and see how the story will go. And it seems like we have plenty of exciting content ahead.
