What Will Happen to Warzone Caldera?
The beloved incarnation of the original Warzone, which was launched shortly after Warzone 2 kicked off in 2022, will be shut down on September 21 for good, Activision announced in their blog post last week. The developers explained that such a decision would help them focus more on future content.
Players should prepare for even more Warzone content across consoles and PC, as well as a new era of Battle Royale on the go with the launch of Call of Duty®: Warzone™ Mobile, which includes a shared Battle Pass and cross-progression. Naturally, this raises the question: “What will happen to all the progression, inventory, and purchased content?” Unfortunately, they all expire the moment the servers are shut down. However, the purchased items in the game from Modern Warfare (2019), Black Ops Cold War, and Vanguard will continue to be accessible in those games.
At the same time, the developers stressed that the closure of Warzone Caldera won’t impact Warzone 2 in any way. Moreover, the situation might motivate those who haven’t yet played the game to give it a shot, considering that there’ll be more in the future, as was stated in the post.
