Best Professions for Raiding in WoW Dragonflight

In this guide, you will learn which 3 professions are most useful for raiding. Our PRO player goes over the list of professions you should focus on to ensure that you and your group survive the challenges you face in Vault of the Incarnates and future raids.

In World of Warcraft (WoW), professions are an integral part of the gameplay process. They can provide you with equipment, consumables, and other useful items that will aid you in your adventures, especially in raids. However, not all professions are created equal, and some are more useful than others. In this article, we will go through the top 3 most useful professions for raiding in World of Warcraft.

Introducing Cyberfx

Before we begin, I’d like to introduce you to the person who assisted me with this Dragonflight raid guide and provided all the information you’ll find below. Cyberfx is an old-school WoW player. He has been playing the game starting from Legion, then took a break and resumed playing from the beginning of Shadowlands. He has been consistently raiding at a semi-hardcore level, clearing Mythic Castle Nathria and consistently raiding in Mythic difficulty. Cyberfx has cleared the Sanctum of Domination up to Sylvanas and the Sepulcher of the First Ones up to Lihuvim. Also, he regularly completes Mythic+ dungeons, usually achieving a +20 level each season except for the first one in Shadowlands. On top of that, he has played as a Death Knight, Rogue, and Warrior, and currently has a Warrior with a 2.7k Raider.IO score and 5/8 Mythic progress.

Now let’s start with a few commonly asked questions.

Although all professions have their advantages, some of them are less useful in raids than others. For instance, professions such as Archeology and Fishing are designed to be pastime activities, and they do not provide any substantial advantages for raiding.

No, players can only have two main professions at the same time. However, it's possible to learn secondary professions such as Cooking, First Aid, Fishing on top of the two main ones.

Having professions isn't required to complete Vault of Incarnates or any other raid. However, having access to powerful consumables and gear will give you an edge, influence your effectiveness, and make raiding easier.

Yes, players can "unlearn" a profession and learn a new one in place of the old one. However, "unlearning" a profession leads to losing all of the progress you've reached with it and should you wish to come back to it later, you'll have to start learning it from the beginning.

Alchemy

Alchemists have a passive bonus to the duration flasks effects, which allows them to save gold on buying the flasks. On top of that, they can create one of the best trinkets for healers in the game – Alacritous Alchemist Stone. Having a required recipe also allows those who are practicing Dragonflight Alchemy to create Elemental Potion of Ultimate Power that surpasses all other similar potions, as you can see on the screenshot below, taken from Bloodmallet.com.

Jewelcrafting

Jewelcrafters can make text which is the most powerful item with the pre-installed embellishment effect that will benefit almost all classes in the game. Although it requires a pretty expensive recipe in terms of the time it takes to acquire it on your own or buy from the auction.

Besides that, those whose profession is Jewelcrafting Dragonflight can also make gems that are required to power the aforementioned Elemental Lariat. Even on their own, these gems increase various characteristics of a class.

Enchanting

Dragonflight Enchanting has always been very helpful to raiders. Weapon and armor enchantment provides a serious increase of characteristics. If an entire raid party is fully equipped or there aren’t any classes that need the loot from bosses, Enchanting allows to disenchant that loot.

Typically you don’t need more than two players in a raiding party with this profession, since you can still purchase all enchantments from the auction provided you have enough gold.

Cooking

In the beginning, we promised to give you a list of 3 professions, so why is there a 4th one? It’s simple – Cooking isn’t really needed for raiding, but it’s way nicer when at least one person in the party can make the text. Although in practice, most players prefer to buy the food from the auction.

Having The Right Tools For The Job

In conclusion, having the right professions can make a huge difference when it comes to raiding in World of Warcraft Dragonflight. The top professions that we recommend for raiders are Alchemy, Enchanting, and Jewelcrafting. Cooking’s also great. Each of these professions offers unique benefits that can help you and your raid team succeed in the toughest battles.
